American bullfrog (Lithobates catesbeianus) occurrences in Flanders

Details

The Research Institute for Nature and Forest has a long tradition in the monitoring of non-native species in Flanders. Observational data of American bullfrog dates back to April 2010. The occurrence dataset was compiled from several different occurrence datasets available at INBO. The majority of the occurrences were collected through fieldwork performed within the EU co-funded Interreg project INVEXO (www.invexo.eu). In this project, research was performed into managing bullfrog populations using different methods. However, most of the occurrences cover captures of American bullfrog (1934 occurrences on a total of 7597 records) as well as bycatch. Upon using this dataset, it is important to realise that bullfrogs were removed from the sites and humanely killed whilst bycatch was released back on site (see publication list for detailed description of methods). Therefore, caution is advised when using these data for trend analysis, distribution range calculation or other.
