The project will evaluate the existing pilot ecosystem extent account and the four existing pilot ecosystem services supply and use accounts in physical and monetary units. The development of the pilot accounts has exposed some shortcomings in the current datasets and data architectures. This project will identify strategies to improve these pilot accounts, which will be prioritised based on usefulness/contribution and feasibility. Using the highest priority strategies, an improved ecosystem extent account will be produced. Also, TIER 2 and TIER 3 ecosystem quality accounts will be produced and evaluated for forests and water bodies and a new pilot ecosystem supply and use account will be developed for ‘erosion control’.
