Biometry, Methodology and Quality Assurance
Biometry, Methodology and Quality Assurance
The Biometry, Methodology and Quality Assurance (BMK) team guides scientific INBO staff in adopting best practices in research phases such as design, data collection, statistical data analysis and reporting. The team serves as a reference for sound and consistent scientific research methodology. The team members stimulate all components of Open Science practice at INBO. The team leads projects where design and quality assurance of monitoring schemes and data analysis are focal. Examples are the standardized monitoring schemes for the Natura 2000 Habitat and Bird Directives in Flanders. The team has a high level of expertise in survey design, statistical data analysis (R programming language), reproducible research (a.o. Git and GitHub for version control; R Markdown for literate programming) and quality assurance. They have extensive experience in processing biodiversity, environmental and geospatial data. Finally, the team also gives training in statistical good practice either in class or through tutorials.
