Under the impetus of international and regional legislation, such as the European Eel Regulation, the European Water Framework Directive, the Benelux Decision on free fish migration and the Decree Integrated Water Policy, water managers must take up the challenge of restoring the ecological quality of our watercourses. This also includes the restoration of free fish migration. Pilot studies are used to assess different river rehabilitation scenarios and an evaluation of implemented measures is carried out through 'before' and 'after' studies.
