Details
This project aims to enhance reporting on Natura 2000 (N2000) habitat types in the '1000' series. A key focus of this initiative is habitat type 1140 – Mudflats and sandflats not covered by seawater at low tide, for which Flanders currently lacks comprehensive reporting.
This project will involve:
* Coordination between regional (Flanders) and federal administrations.
* Development of a methodology to assess and monitor habitat type 1140.
* Preparation of a monitoring proposal to facilitate systematic reporting.
In addition to these efforts, the project will support ongoing fieldwork, data structuring, and analysis related to the monitoring of:
* Habitat type 1130 (Estuaria)
* Habitat type 91E0_sf (Salicion albae - tidal freshwater willow forests)
* Habitat type 1330 (Atlantic salt meadows - Glauco-Puccinellietalia maritimae)
These activities will contribute to both Natura 2000 and Water Framework Directive (WFD) reporting and will be conducted along major estuarine and riverine ecosystems in Flanders, including the Yser, Scheldt Estuary, and Meuse.
This project aims to improve habitat assessments and conservation efforts, ensuring more effective environmental reporting and policy implementation.
