Greater insight into your energy consumption thanks to the digital meter
Flemish Resilience is investing in an accelerated roll-out of digital meters over the next five years. These meters replace your old, mechanical electricity and gas meters and offer you many advantages for monitoring your energy consumption more accurately.
The digital meter is a crucial step in our energy transition towards a smarter, more conscious and more economical use of energy. In this way, we can all do our bit to combat global warming!
Digital acceleration
Recently, the millionth digital meter was installed with a family in Grembergen, but the Government of Flanders is really going to step up a gear in the coming years. By the end of 2024, 80% of homes should have a digital meter. This is not only beneficial for our planet, but also for you!
You will no longer have to take your readings yourself or have someone come by and do it for you, since the digital meter submits your meter readings automatically. But there is so much more.
To measure is to know
After all, meter readings also give you greater insight into your consumption. Via an online application, you can see exactly how much energy you are using and when. Do you already have a charging station at home or intend to install one in the coming years? With a digital meter you can measure perfectly how much it costs you and work out the best time to charge.
You can also make a digital meter ‘smart’ by linking it to certain apps, applications and ‘smart’ household appliances to see which appliances or heaters consume the most energy in your home. This way, you can make them work at the most convenient times. So no more overpriced laundry!
