Details

In previous cooperation agreements with ANB, we used camera traps to monitor trends, distribution and habitat use by wild boar. Camera traps were set up in the Sonian Forest, enabling us to expand this network for research on roe deer and foxes with minimal effort. This also allows us to determine the densities of foxes and roe deer and to determine whether the fox population influences the roe deer population. We can determine the possible impact of stress due to the high recreational pressure on the fawn/goat ratio. It is also interesting to monitor the roe deer fawns that are born and the fawns that survive. With this research, we will evaluate the possible use of a camera trap network as a method for better understanding population dynamics, interactions between species and the impact of human pressure on mammal populations (primarily roe deer).
