Recognition as a laboratory for waste, other materials, and soil samples
To be able to make a legally valid statement on the environmental quality of waste and other materials, sampling and analysis must be carried out by a recognised laboratory for the sampling and analysis of waste and other materials. These laboratories are recognised by the Waste and Materials Management Division of the Public Waste Agency of Flanders (Openbare Vlaamse Afvalstoffenmaatschappij/OVAM).
To be able to make a legally valid statement on the environmental quality of soils, the analysis must be carried out by a recognised laboratory for soil sample analysis. These laboratories are recognised by the Soil Information Management Division of the Public Waste Agency of Flanders (OVAM).
Procedure
The recognition for
- sampling and/or analysis in the discipline ‘waste and other materials’
- analysis in the discipline ‘soil’, subdomain ‘soil remediation’
can be requested from the Public Waste Agency of Flanders (OVAM). To do so, you must fully complete the template (in Dutch)(opens in new window) and submit it together with the required attachments.
Legislation
Government of Flanders Order of 19 November 2010 establishing the Flemish regulation on environmental recognitions (VLAREL). The recognition conditions and special conditions for laboratories can be found in CHAPTER 4 and Article 25 respectively. The procedure for recognition application and the processing, decision, and publication are set out in CHAPTER 5. APPENDIX 3, parts 5A and 6A, contains the list of packages with the parameters for which laboratories in the discipline ‘waste and other materials’ or in the discipline ‘soil’, subdomain ‘soil remediation’, can be recognised.
