Certificate for the purpose of assisting the recognition of a Flemish diploma abroad

• This certificate contains brief information about your degree: the field of study, the scope of study, and whether it complies with European directives.
• It is drawn up in Dutch or English. You can have it translated into another language yourself by a sworn translator(opens in new window).

• Would you like to work abroad with a pedagogical certificate of competence? NARIC-Vlaanderen does not issue attestations for holders of Flemish pedagogical diplomas who would like to teach abroad stating their teaching competence. NARIC-Vlaanderen only produces certificates for final diplomas:

• certificate of primary education (getuigschrift basisonderwijs)
• diploma of secondary education (diploma secundair onderwijs)
• diploma of higher professional education (diploma hoger beroepsonderwijs)
• diplomas of higher education (diploma’s van het hoger onderwijs)
• diplomas and certificates of adult education (diploma’s en getuigschriften van het volwassenenonderwijs).

NARIC-Vlaanderen does not issue certificates that mention teaching rights for holders of Flemish teaching qualifications who want to work abroad. Please contact AGODI if you need such a certificate.

You can apply to NARIC-Vlaanderen for a certificate confirming that your degree is recognised in Flanders and was awarded by a recognised educational institution in Flanders or Brussels.

• Send your request by e-mail to naric.attesten@vlaanderen.be(opens in your email application).
  • Indicate whether you wish to receive the certificate in Dutch or English.
  • Attach a copy of your:
    • Flemish diploma
    • Transcript (Diplomasupplement)
    • identity card (or your national number). If you do not have a Belgian national registry number, please provide your current address details.
• You will not receive an acknowledgement of receipt of your application.
• You will receive the certificate within 1 month.
