INTERLACE closing conference: INBO methods for impactful collaboration in the spotlight
On 2 and 3 October, the EU Horizon project INTERLACE, International Cooperation to Restore and Connect Urban Environments in Latin America and Europe, concluded with a conference in Granollers (Spain).
The conference ‘Reimagining Urban Spaces: Nature-Based Solutions for Inclusive Transformations in Europe and Latin America’ brought together more than 70 participants from 22 cities, 10 leading organisations and 9 research institutes ne universities. The programme included insights and discussions from experts from Europe and Latin America, an open-microphone session and 8 parallel workshops with topics ranging from community engagement to nature-positive economics.
The workshop ‘Agile approach for research and innovation projects’, led by INBO, was well received by participants. The European Commission also showed strong interest in further promoting this approach.
INBO further presented 2 posters around reports and projects highlighting that community engagement is the key to sustainability:
- Strategy for stakeholder participation: a 10-step plan for stakeholder engagement to achieve sustainable outcomes, ensure inclusion, break down boundaries between groups and generate stronger impact.
- Monitoring strategy for community-based urban nature development projects: a prototype to monitor the ecological, social and cultural impact of projects. This strategy will be tested during the living lab projects of the Nature Tissue Planning programme (collaboration between ANB, INBO and 51N4E).
