Do you want to turn your hobby into a profession without going back to school?

Do you dream about using your experience in a job near your home, but you don’t have the right proof of qualification?

Do you want to be able to prove you are suitable for a new position, but don’t know how to go about it?

You’re not the only one. A lot of people are looking for a new professional challenge for which they already have a lot of experience.

But how can they prove this? It’s possible with the validation of acquired competencies.

Specifically this means that you can quickly get a proof of the competencies you’ve acquired in your professional life, in your free time, or by taking courses. This proof is just as valid as a certificate you get after a training course.

The first thing you can do is to look for a validation body who will guide you in the validation of your competencies.

The validation programme consists of three steps: conducting an interview, taking a number of tests, and obtaining a professional qualification certificate.

During the interview you will be asked questions about your previous experiences, about your claimed competencies and about your ambitions. A counselor will guide you step-by-step towards your goals.

Can you really do what you claim to be able to do? To prove this, you have to take a few tests: a practical test and often also a written or oral test. This takes half a day, perhaps a bit longer.

If you successfully demonstrate the competencies in the tests, you’ll receive a professional qualification certificate. With this certificate, you can find your way on the labour market or follow a shortened, related training course.

Our guide is not the only one. Others have also successfully followed a validation programme.
