About Jo Brouns

Jo Brouns studied criminology and was a crime analyst with the City of Genk from 2000 to 2002.   

He worked as an HR consultant with the GAOZ police zone (today: MidLim police zone) in Limburg from 2002 to 2007.

He was elected as a provincial councillor for the Province of Limburg in the 2006 provincial council elections.  

He was a staff member of several CD&V ministers’ offices: Jo Vandeurzen from 2007 to 2008, Steven Vanackere from 2008 to 2009, and Jo Vandeurzen again from 2009 to 2019.  

He was a municipal councillor and (titular) mayor of Kinrooi from 2013 to 2022.  

Jo Brouns has been active as a Flemish Member of Parliament since June 2019. He was the Flemish Minister for Economy, Innovation, Work, Social Economy and Agriculture from 2022 to 2024.
