About Hilde Crevits

Hilde Crevits grew up in the West Flemish town of Torhout, where she lives today and is the municipal council chairwoman.   

She graduated from Ghent with a Licentiate in Law in 1990. She was admitted to the Bruges bar on 1 October 1990, and six years later, went on to become a part-time staff member for Bruges Mayor Moenaert’s office, during which she followed up on road safety.  

For more than a decade, Hilde Crevits has been an established member of the Government of Flanders team. First as a Flemish Member of Parliament, later as Minister for Public Works, Energy, Environment and Nature (2007-2009), Mobility and Public Works (2009-2014), and Education (2014-2019). During the previous term of office, she was Deputy Minister-President and Minister for Welfare, Public Health, Family and Fisheries (2019-2024).
