Non-native Fish in Flanders, Belgium is a sampling event dataset published by the Research Institute of Nature and Forest (INBO). It is part of the VIS database in which data are collected to monitor the status of fishes and their habitats in Flanders,. This dataset contains fish counts of exotic fish in Flanders. Here, it is published as a standardized Darwin Core Archive and includes for each sampling event an eventID, date, location and sampling protocol (in the event core) and for each occurrence and occurrenceID, the number of recorded individuals, status (present/absent) and scientific name (in the occurrence extension). - MICA - Muskrat occurrences collected in West Flanders, Belgium is an occurrence dataset published by the Research Institute of Nature and Forest (INBO). - Watervogels - Wintering waterbirds in Flanders, Belgium is a sampling event dataset published by the Research Institute for Nature and Forest (INBO). It contains information on more than 94,000 sampling events (bird counts) with over 720,000 observations (and zero counts when there is no associated occurrence) for the period 1991-2016, covering 167 species in over 1,100 wetland sites. The aim of these bird counts is to gather information on the size, distribution and long term trends of wintering waterbird populations in Flanders. These data are also used to assess the importance of individual sites for waterbirds, using quantitative criteria. Furthermore, the waterbird counts contribute to international monitoring programs, such as the International Waterbird Census (coordinated by Wetlands International) and fulfil some of the objectives of the European Bird Directive, the Ramsar Convention, and the Agreement on the Conservation of African-Eurasian Migratory Waterbirds (AEWA). Here the dataset is published as a standardized Darwin Core Archive and includes for each event: a stable eventID, date and location of observation, and a short description of the sampling protocol, effort and conditions (in the event core), supplemented with specific information for each occurrence: a stable occurrenceID, the scientific name and higher classification of the observed species, the number of recorded individuals, and a reference to the observer of the record (in the occurrence extension). - VIS - Estuarine monitoring in Flanders, Belgium (post 2013) is a sampling event dataset published by the Research Institute for Nature and Forest (INBO). The dataset contains close to 32,000 fish occurrences sampled between 2013 and 2016 from 33 locations in the estuary of the river Yser and the part of the river Scheldt under tidal influence ("Zeeschelde"). The dataset includes over 60 fish species, as well as a number of non-target crustacean species. The data are retrieved from the Fish Information System (VIS), a database set up to monitor the status of fishes and their habitats in Flanders and are collected in support of the Water Framework Directive, the Habitat Directive, certain red lists, and biodiversity research. The VIS database is described in Brosens et al. 2015 (https://doi.org/10.3897/zookeys.475.8556). Additional information, such as measurements, absence information and abiotic data are available upon request. The seawater samples were collected during two different field campaigns in September and November 2021. The invertebrate species were identified using COI eDNA metabarcoding. - This dataset contains eDNA metabarcoding data of fish species detected in 30 locations in the Belgian Part of the North Sea (BPNS). Hence, an efficient monitoring technique is needed to monitor the potential effects on the marine ecosystem. Here, we assess whether eDNA metabarcoding is a suitable alternative to monitor fish and epibenthos biodiversity in these difficult to access marine habitats. - Invasive species - Ruddy duck (Oxyura jamaicensis) in Flanders, Belgium is a sampling event dataset published by the Research Institute of Nature and Forest (INBO). It contains information on 107 sampling events with 88 validated occurrences of invasive ruddy duck (with 2 extra occurrences reporting on white-headed duck) starting from 2009. These occurrences mainly originate from observations or cullings (through shooting or trapping) of individuals associated with official control actions in Flanders, North Belgium in response to the Bern Convention Action Plan on ruddy duck eradication (Robertson et al. 2015; Bern Convention 2016; Hall 2016). The data are used for feeding the Flemish biodiversity indicator on the progress of ruddy duck eradication. Also, they are used for official reporting to the Bern Convention Action Plan on the eradication of ruddy duck from the Western Palearctic (Bern Convention 2016; Hall 2016) and, as the species is included in the list of invasive species of Union Concern since 2016, for reporting to the EU IAS Regulation (1143/2014) (European Union 2014). The data are also used for research purposes. - Deze GIS-laag bevat alle historisch permanente graslanden (HPG) en alle permanente graslanden (in VEN) in Vlaanderen die beschermd zijn door de natuurwetgeving, ofwel door een verbod, ofwel door vergunningsplicht voor het wijzigen van deze graslanden (art. 7 en 8 van het BVR van 23/07/1998 voor de historisch permanente graslanden, artikel 25§3 ten 2e van het Natuurdecreet en artikel 6 van het maatregelenbesluit voor de permanente graslanden gelegen in VEN). Binnen de landbouwstreek de Polder werden de historisch permanente graslanden en hun beschermingsstatus bovendien vastgelegd door de Vlaamse Regering (VR) op 27/11/2015. Buiten de landbouwstreek de Polder heeft de VR de HPG niet juridisch verankerd op kaart, zodat het hier louter om een informatieve kaart gaat. Buiten de landbouwstreek de Polder werd de biologische waarderingskaart (BWK) conform het BVR van 23/07/1998 (Bijlage IV en V) gebruikt als basis voor de aanduiding van de graslanden, gecorrigeerd met de teeltplannen van de verzamelaanvraag landbouw voor de periode 2018-2022. De beschermingsstatus kan geraadpleegd worden in het veld “statuut”: - Verbod (rood): HPG waarvoor een verbod geldt voor het wijzigen van het grasland. Beschermd door de natuurwetgeving (HPG door artikel 7 BVR van 23/07/1998, permanente graslanden door het artikel 25 natuurdecreet en artikel 6 van het maatregelenbesluit): verboden te wijzigen, zowel mechanisch, chemisch als door afbranden, evenals verbod op wijzigen reliëf en verbod op doorzaaien - Vergunning (oranje): HPG waarvoor een vergunningsplicht geldt. Beschermd door de natuurwetgeving (artikel 8 BVR van 23/07/1998): natuurvergunningsplicht voor het wijzigen, zowel mechanisch, chemisch als door afbranden evenals voor het wijzigen van het reliëf en het doorzaaien. - EKBG (rode arcering met kruisjes): graslanden die enkel beschermd zijn volgens de landbouwregelgeving als ecologisch kwetsbaar blijvend grasland (EKBG): wijziging verboden zowel voor het mechanisch wijzigen als het wijzigen van het reliëf. Het veld “basis_statuut” geeft de juridische basis weer waarop de bescherming van de HPG en de permanente graslanden berust, en de liggingen in gewestplanbestemmingen en overdrukken (habitatrichtlijn, vogelrichtlijn, beschermd landschap, VEN). Het veld “beperkingen” geeft weer welke bewerkingen verboden of vergunningsplichtig zijn. ! Wegens een technisch probleem worden t.e.m. 16 mei de statuten 'verbod + EKBG' , 'vergunning + EKBG' en 'verbod (VEN) niet gevisualiseerd in Geopunt.
