The European Media sector today stands at a crossroads with only one way forward. New and emerging technologies confrontthe media sector with unprecedented challenges. However, technologies such as generative AI and virtual production also present immense opportunities to the media sector. It can heighten time and resource efficiency of the production process, and expand the creative possibilities for media professionals, content creators and storytellers. However, there are significant barriers for the common use of these technologies within the media sector such as high investment costs and a lack of technical profiles, and some are still skeptical and hesitant, fearing technology will replace jobs or alter the way the media sector operates in a negative way. We want to bring the message that we need to embrace new technologies and use them in a constructive and creative way, whilst also remaining conscious of the challenges and risks they might pose, to ensure a resilient and productive European media industry. We want to choose the path of innovation.
